What to do, what to do?

The latest delay on this project ...

* If you setup competitions that involve teams from other leagues, those other leagues have to be enabled in order to generate a new winner each year.

* The more leagues you enable, the slower the game runs.

* The competitions I created before I learned this involve, wait for it, about 40 other leagues.

So, a conundrum. I clearly need to either (a) be OK that the same clubs from New Zealand play every year in the Pacific Invitational Asian/North American Cup, or (b) change it so NZ doesn't have a representative in the PIANAC.

Right now, it looks like a mixture is the way to go: Austria will no longer send teams to The Immigrant's Cup, but I think I'm fine if I always see the same team from Macau. I still think we're about two weeks out ...

A Note on Accent Marks

Just a note: I know many of the names are lacking accent marks. I will figure out how to add them for the detail posts once the season starts, and may even go back and add them here. No insult is intended--it's just a matter of having a hard time figuring out how to insert them in the Blogger interface.

The New Teams

All Division II teams that were created start with a year founded of 2009 and an in-game reputation of 2000. Attendance averages 2,000 - 2,500, with a minimum of about 750 and a maximum of what their stadium will allow. In general, between the cost of stadium rental and the income from a shirt sponsor, these teams will be $100,000 or less in the black (many are in the red, but will be profitable between league TV money and their ticket sales). Additionally, teams have defaulted to training facilities of 5 and youth setup of 10, with no youth academy.

It will require some real attention to budget to survive in the lower reaches of NADII.

All teams have a full name, a common name, two nicknames and two full kits. All of these choices have some "reason" behind them--consistency with other sports teams in that area, geographical references, fauna and flora, bad puns, whatever. All of it is arbitrary, but none of it is random.

Fun with Google Maps

Here are maps of the cities for each of the four divisions. If you zoom in, you will see the actual stadium for each team (or, in some cases, the land where the stadium is currently being built). Ain't technology grand?
